Do you have healthy periodontal? Three simple self-test methods
TIME:2020-11-19

Gingival inflammation seems to be a small problem, but if you don't pay attention, it will lead to serious consequences! When the inflammation develops to destroy the alveolar bone, resulting in the decrease of alveolar bone height, it is called periodontitis. And this kind of destruction is often sustained and irreversible! In the early stage of periodontitis, there is only discomfort, and then the teeth will gradually loosen. When severe periodontitis occurs, the teeth will become severely loose or even fall off automatically. Therefore, once you have periodontitis, you need to pay attention to it. Xu Baohua, chief physician of Stomatology center of Chinese and Japanese hospitals, teaches you how to measure periodontitis by yourself.

   test 1: observe gingival color

gingival color is a standard to judge periodontal health. A good gingival color basically means that periodontal is healthy. If the gum color is not good, there must be periodontal disease.

test method: observe the gingival color of the upper, lower, left, right, inside and outside of the mouth, and compare the color card, light red or pink, that is, the gingival color of the first three squares of the color card is normal. When there are bright red gums, you should be alert to periodontitis, and when purple gums appear, you should be alert to severe periodontitis.

   test 2: Test oral odor

oral odor is one of the criteria to judge periodontal health. When periodontal tissue is inflamed, bacteria will produce a lot of anaerobic bacteria in the process of oral reproduction. The secondary metabolites produced by anaerobic bacteria contain volatile sulfur, which will cause abnormal oral odor. The more bacteria, the worse the breath.

test method: blow air at the household breath tester. According to the results displayed by the instrument, you can roughly screen out whether the breath is healthy. The lower the test value, the fresher the breath and the healthier the oral condition.

test 3: detection of dental plaque

Plaque is the main cause of periodontitis! Plaque formed by bacteria deposition on the surface of teeth is called dental plaque. The more plaque, the worse oral health.

Test method: smear the plaque indicator on the tooth surface, let the plaque indicator fully contact with bacteria on the tooth surface, and gargle after half a minute. Red spots on the surface of teeth indicate the presence of plaque. The more red color remains, the more plaque there is, the higher the risk of periodontal disease.
